The Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation in partnership with Dr. Reddy’s Foundation for Health Education (DRFHE), a social initiative wing of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited and MKC Roko Cancer Charitable Trust, has introduced the first ever `Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Program’ from today onwards.
The program has been organized as the incidence of breast cancer in India is rising at an alarming rate and has become the most common cancer affecting women in urban India as well as elsewhere in the world.
For starters, this venture is being undertaken in collaboration with Jarvis Breast Screening Centre in London, one of largest breast screening centers in UK.
Mobile breast screening will be done at pre-designated locations in Hyderabad in India throughout the month of October 2007, the month recognized as Breast Awareness month.
Although mobile breast screening has been done before in India, this would be the first time for breast screening to be done in an organized manner with international collaboration spreading over four weeks.
