This is an interesting piece of news.A latest study claims that dark chocolate could help in curing emotional stress. Apparently, this finding supports an earlier clinical trial published online in ACS’ Journal of Proteome Research.
During the study, scientists were believed to have examined volunteers who rated themselves as highly stressed and ate dark chocolate for two weeks. Supposedly, the authors found declines in stress hormones and other stress-related biochemical changes in them.
The study is known to provide strong evidence that a daily consumption of 40 grams i.e. 1.4 ounces during a period of 2 weeks is adequate to alter the metabolism of healthy human volunteers.
Sunil Kochhar along with his colleagues noted that increasing scientific evidence that antioxidants and other beneficial substances in dark chocolate may be able to decrease risk factors for heart disease and other physical conditions.
The findings of the study revealed that eating about an ounce and a half of dark chocolate every day for nearly two weeks seems to have reduced levels of stress hormones in the bodies of people feeling highly stressed. Moreover, everyone’s favorite treat partially appears to have corrected other stress-related biochemical imbalances.
Furthermore, the findings suggest that chocolate could possibly alleviate emotional stress. However, up till now, there seems to be very little proof from study in humans on precisely how chocolate might have those stress-busting effects.
