10Chocolate –
You heard that right, chocolate has found its way back into the list of cholesterol lowering foods which not only bring down LDL, but also raise HDL. Additionally, the flavonoids in them possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The ideal amount to snack on in a day would be approximately 30gm or 1oz for those watching their diet. It can still be high in calories though.
So when choosing a bar, reach for dark chocolate since white chocolate is actually considered to be bad for blood flow and therefore, the heart. It should contain at least 70% cocoa and no hydrogenated vegetable oils. Buy chocolate with cocoa butter instead. It includes palmitic fat in small amounts, stearic fat and oleic fat. It’s processed from cacao beans and is hence considered healthy.
